Another fine article. I’m guessing the Yara Birkeland doesn’t rock your socks ? :) And are the Americans letting in the great unwashed ? I’d better check, not that I’m in a hurry to jump on a plane. Your now gig sounds like fun. Looking forward to reading about it in due course.

Excellent - a thundering good read, almost setmon-like in its message. Glad to hear you are parting company with your vomit comet and looking forward to hearing how you get on under your new Master Mariner.

Hi Scott, I enjoyed the article You asked about the meaning of Son of Man. This is what I understand about it but am probably missing a whole load of stuff. The phrase first appears I think appears in the book of Daniel chapter 7: "I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man..." which implied that a human being would be given eternal dominion which would have been a great mystery to the readers before Christ. Then Christ came who is perfect God and perfect man and has the right to this ever lasting dominion on the one hand because be as God and on the other because of his perfect obedience to God the Father. Christ used the term Son of Man about himself so that those who through hard enough about what he was saying would realise he was claiming to be God while not making it so obvious that he would be hounded out of sight by the leaders of the Jews. At the same time the term emphasises Christ's humanity, that he was like us in all things but sin.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Have you read Doombergs piece on the Railroad accident?

https://open.substack.com/pub/doomberg/p/railroaded?r=hhvbc&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post

Doomberg has an interesting way to explain things I don’t understand.

On the “Son of man” question, have you watched any of JBP’s “Genesis” or “Exodus” lectures? I haven’t watched all of them yet but they certainly opened my eyes to facets of the good book I had no idea about.

Good luck with your next vessel, sounds like you will have some skill development in front of you 😉

Martin
